President Michael McKitrick Attends APWU All Craft Conference - October 15th, 2025
APWU Local 438 President Michael McKitrick recently attended the APWU All Craft Conference, participating in four full days of training and engagement. Throughout the conference, President McKitrick split his time across the facility to attend classes focused on Clerks, Maintenance, and Motor Vehicle Services, ensuring a broad, all-craft perspective that directly supports the diverse needs of Local 438’s membership. The sessions emphasized contract enforcement, operational challenges, and best practices being implemented by locals across the country.
Reflecting on the experience, McKitrick stated, “My hope is that by this time next year we have at least half of our vacant union positions filled, so we can start sending more members to events like this. The information is critical, but just as important is the networking—building relationships with other locals across the country that we can lean on for guidance, ideas, and proven ways they’ve found success.”
LMOU Negotiations - December 15th, 2026
APWU Local 438 began Local Memorandum of Understanding (LMOU) negotiations with management in late October 2025 and met regularly through December 5, 2025. During this period, approximately 30 sections of LMOU language were discussed in detail. The parties reached agreement on all but two items, reflecting significant progress at the local level. In accordance with the contractual process, Local 438 will now advance the remaining two unresolved items to the next step of negotiations for further review and resolution. These changes will bring the Local under an updated and better understanding of many common topics.
